Summer Expeiential Learning Couse in China Comes Back Again! You will spend an unforgettable three weeks in China and earn one credit course in Travel and Tourism(Course Code CGG30). For one week, you will travel to Beijing and Shanghai for sightseeing, for another two weeks you will be staying in a beautiful school campus in Jining to learn about Chinese culture and make friends with local students. This program is organized by Durham Catholic District School Board in partnership with Tenkey Education Group, and is supported by Jining Municipal Government and Jining Education Bureau in China. Jining is the hometown of Confucius and a Friendship City of The City of Pickering. Tenkey Education Group has its headquarters in Whitby and is a company that promotes educational and cultural exchange between Canada and China.
Program Overview (For reference only, subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances):
- Day 1 July 11: Departure from Toronto Pearson Airport
- Day 2 July 12: Arrival in Shanghai in the evening
- Day 3 July 13 - Day 4 July 14: Shanghai tour, visit a local school
- Day 5 July 15: High speed train to Jining
- Day 6 July 16 – Day 17 July 27: Jining Confucius International School Campus Morning: school campus activities with local Chinese students to learn about Chinese language, calligraphy, Chinese musical instruments, Chinese art, Chinese Kung Fu etc.
- Day 18 July 28: High speed train to Beijing
- Day 19 July 29 - Day20 July 30: Visit Bird Nest, Water Cube, Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall, Forbidden City
- Day 21 July 31: Departure from Beijing (China Time)
- Day 21 July 31: Arrival in Toronto in the evening (Toronto Time)
Afternoon: short excursions, including Confucius temple, museums, sightseeing etc.
- Shanghai and Beijing – Hotel, will be Holiday Inn or equivalent rating
- Jining - School dormitory, has 24-hour air conditioning, shower and laundry service
- Jining - Two nights homestay at Chinese student’s home to experience Chinese culture (July 20 and July 21)
- Secondary school students
- Suitable for travel – no serious allergy / mental health or other health/behavior issue
